Kitchen Renovation Process in Manhattan
Renovating a kitchen in a Manhattan apartment requires careful planning, detailed coordination, and an understanding of the requirements established by individual condominium, co-op, and residential buildings. At Nuza Home Improvement, we manage the complete kitchen renovation process from initial planning and building coordination through installation and final completion.
Before construction begins, we review the project scope and coordinate with building management regarding alteration agreements, insurance requirements, approved working hours, contractor access, service elevator reservations, material deliveries, plumbing or electrical shutdowns, and debris removal. When required for the scope of work, architectural plans, permits, and necessary approvals are coordinated before construction begins.
The renovation starts with protecting the apartment, elevators, hallways, and other required common areas. Existing cabinetry, countertops, appliances, flooring, and finishes are carefully removed according to the approved scope. Demolition debris is contained and removed following the building's designated procedures and schedules.
Once demolition is complete, plumbing, electrical, lighting, ventilation, and other necessary infrastructure work is performed. Walls and floors are then repaired and properly prepared for the new kitchen installation. Cabinetry is carefully installed and leveled, followed by countertops, backsplashes, appliances, plumbing fixtures, lighting, flooring, and finish carpentry.
Throughout the project, we coordinate the different trades and deliveries while working within the building's approved construction hours and restrictions. Special attention is given to protecting existing areas of the apartment, controlling dust and debris, and maintaining a clean and organized job site.
The final stage includes painting, appliance connections, hardware installation, detailed adjustments, touch-ups, and a complete project inspection. The kitchen is cleaned and prepared for a final walkthrough with the client.
Our goal is to make the Manhattan kitchen renovation process as organized and seamless as possible—from building approvals and site preparation to cabinetry installation and the final details—while creating a beautiful, functional, and professionally finished kitchen built for everyday living.
